Professor Joo hyun Park has been hired as a guest professor of USTB


Relying on the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Metallurgy (SKLAM), Professor Joohyun Park of Hanyang University, South Korea as well as KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, was hired as a Guest Professor at University of Science and Technology Beijing. Professor Joohyun Park is mainly engaged in research on clean steel production technology, metallurgical slag, high aluminum and high manganese steel, oxide metallurgy technology and comprehensive utilization of metallurgical resources.


Professor Joohyun Park has worked in internationally renowned academics such as "Ceramics International", "Journal of the American Ceramic Society", "Metallurgical and Materials Transactions B", “ISIJ International”, "Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids," etc. More than 160 scientific (SCI) papers were published in the renowned peer-review journals, and 25 invention patents were authorized, including 4 international patents. Professor Park won the Best Patent Award from POSCO (2006), the Best Young Scientist Award from Korea Institute of Metals and Materials (2012), the Best Research Professor Award from University of Ulsan (2011) and the Outstanding Scientific Achievement Award from Hanyang University (2019, 2020), Korea. He was also awarded Excellent Reviewer from "Journal of the American Ceramic Society", "Materials Characterization", "Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids" and other internationally renowned academic journals.


Professor Joohyun Park was invited to provide Plenary and Keynote lectures at international conferences, steel companies and universities such as "International Steelmaking Congress", "International Clean Steel Conference", "International Ferroalloy Conference", etc., “POSCO”, “Hyundai Steel”, “TATA Steel (Netherlands)”, etc., “University of Science and Technology Beijing”, “Aalto University (Finland)”, Ljubljana University (Slovenia)”, etc. about 100 times.


Prof. Joohyun Park has served as the chairperson of important international conferences in the field of metallurgical engineering for more than 40 times, and was invited to serve as an important academic/organizing committee member of the International Steelmaking Congress, International Conference on Molten Slag, Fluxes and Salts, etc. He successively won more than 20 awards including the 2014 Marcus A. Grossmann Young Authors Award by the TMS and ASM International, USA, the 2016 Sawamura Award by the Iron and Steel Institute of Japan, the 2020 Extraction & Processing Division (EPD) Science Award by the TMS, USA, etc.


Professor Joohyun Park's appointment as a Guest Professor of our school will further promote the exchange and scientific research cooperation between our school and Korean universities, promote the internationalization and diversification of the metallurgical engineering major of our school, and enhance the cultivation of students in the field of metallurgical engineering of our school. The scientific researches are of great significance.
