“Youth Forum” for 10th Anniversary

The “Youth Forum” kicked out on 11th October in order to celebrate the 10th anniversary of SKLAM, which is one of the serial celebration activities for the anniversary. The forum aims at strengthening the exchange and cooperation of relevant research workers at home and abroad, and further promoting the innovative, open and sharing development of SKLAM. Prof. Shuqiang Jiao, new Director of SKLAM, Shufeng Yang (deputy director) and Yanling Zhang (deputy director) organized the forum. The former Director, Prof. Zhancheng Guo, and Prof. Jianliang Zhang held the forum. The attendants include postgraduate students, researchers, technicians online or on-site.



Firstly, Professor Guo Zhancheng made a detailed statement on the historical background and significance of the establishment of SKLAM. He said that after 5 to 10 years of development, SKLAM has provided theoretical and technical support for carbon dioxide emission reduction of China's iron and steel industry, efficient utilization of iron ore resources, and efficient smelting of high-end products. SKLAM will be built into an international first-class platform for basic theory research, key technology innovation, top-notch talent training and international cooperation and exchange in the field of iron and steel metallurgy.



As the first lecture of the forum, Prof Guohua Zhang share his study on Preparation of refractory metal related ultrafine powder and ultrafine alloy. Prof. Mingyong Wang presented his work on Clean electrochemical metallurgy of typical amphoteric metal oxate. The two professors fully combined their academic background, followed closely the direction of national major projects, and made great efforts to tackle the "stuck neck" technology. They put forward a variety of innovative ideas and advanced metallurgical processes at the forum.

Professor Zhang Jianliang fully affirmed the depth and breadth of the first lecture of the forum, and gave a detailed report on the development status and direction of metallurgical engineering discipline. Then Professor Zhang Jianliang made an introductory statement on the topic content of the second lecture of "Youth Forum”.

Professor Liu Zhengjian and Professor Yang Shufeng reported two topics of "Exploration and Practice of Professional Course Teaching Mode for College Students in the New Era" and "Research on plasma Heating of Three hollow Graphite Electrode Tundish" respectively. Taking scientific research and education as the entry point, the two professors deeply explored the problems and difficulties existing in the process of scientific research and education and proposed many innovative measures.

When talking about the advantages and disadvantages of the preparation process and the development direction, how to control the element content and how to make the scientific research achievements productive, professor Jiao Shuqiang and Professor Guo Zhancheng shared their comments and suggestions. The forum promoted the technical exchanges among colleagues in the industry, broadened the thinking and direction of young scholars, enhanced the communication between universities, enterprises, teachers and students, and laid a good tone for promoting the construction of "double First-class" discipline in metallurgical engineering.





Professor Jiao Shuqiang made a conclusion remark; he said that the forum aims to promote the exchange between scholars and scholars, interdisciplinary communication, to broaden their horizons and ideas, to exchange and integrate disciplinary knowledge innovation model to promote the development of disciplines. He stressed that the forum was just the beginning, and on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of SKLAM. More such activities should be carried out to promote exchanges and development, and to build a first-class metallurgical engineering discipline with continuous innovation and pioneering attitude.
