Cooperation cases

(1)USTB-RWTH Aachen University

In 1979, when the University of Science and Technology Beijing and RWTH Aachen University in Germany signed a cooperative agreement, it was a historical moment in China's history of international cooperation in higher education. The agreement was one of the first such partnerships following what is known as the 'Reform and Opening-Up Period', and in the past 40 years the two universities have grown together and seen much mutual benefit through teacher and student exchange, joint research ventures and hosting international symposiums.

To date, USTB has sent over 400 students to RWTH Aachen for further study, while RWTH Aachen has in turn sent over 200 students to USTB for internships and cultural exchange. Many of USTB’s leaders and notable alumni, who have made great accomplishments in government, research and industry, were also students at RWTH Aachen. Meanwhile, the two universities have made great strides in the pursuit of innovative joint research and the training of high-class talents, and have set the standard for such partnerships throughout China.

(2) USTB-TATA

USTB and Tata Steel signed a cooperation agreement and established a collaborative research center in 2014. Based on the center, the two sides leverage respective advantages in academia and business, and establish an international exchange platform for related experts and scholars. Through cooperation in shared resources, technological innovation and breakthroughs, the two sides play an active role in promoting the healthy and sustainable development of the industry. In 2015, two scientific research projects jointly applied by the researchers from the two sides were approved by Tata Steel. In 2016 and 2017, two training courses for middle-level technical managers of Tata Steel were held by USTB.

(3)USTB-Tohoku University

Since the establishment of the cooperation and exchange platform between USTB and Tohoku University in 2002, the innovation and exchange program between the two sides has been held for 22 consecutive years. By carrying out in-depth scientific and technological innovation exchanges in the fields of metallurgy, resources, iron and steel materials, environment and informatization, and constantly promoting personnel training and scientific research cooperation between the two universities, it has become a classic international exchange project of our school, and has been awarded as an excellent international exchange platform by the Ministry of Education of Japan.
